V.3 - V.9, Z.1, Z.3 - Z.10 are topics on IXL.com that can be used as practice problems.
Unit 9 will cover sections 7-1, 7-2, 7-3, 8-1, 8-2, 8-3, and 8-4 from the textbook.
One quiz will cover sections 7-1, 7-2, and 7-3. A second quiz will assess 8-1, 8-2, 8-3, & 8-4.
Rules for Exponents (Memorize these!)
7-1
To multiply with the same base, add exponents.
To raise a power to a power, multiply exponents.
To raise a product to a power, raise each factor to the power.
A monomial expression is simplified when
7-2
To divide with the same base, subtract exponents.
Any nonzero number to the zero power is equal to one.
A nonzero number raised to a negative power is the reciprocal of the same number to the positive power.

A monomial expression is simplified when
- each factor appears only once,
- there are no power to powers, and
- all fractions are in simplest form
- there are no negative exponents
